2001 corvette started fine drove to the store and cut it off to pump gas got in it to leave and low oil light was on checked oil it was 2 quarts low added 2 quarts and low oil light went off car still

Sounds like you were low on oil! You shouldn't wait for the 'low oil' light to come on until you add oil. Check your oil every time you get gas.
