If it's a manual transmission, it could be a slipping clutch. If it's an automatic tranny, it could be low on fluid or it's going bad. Any dash lights on?

i have had it checked out by many mechanics some say bad tranny others say other things so i am confused and its an automatic and yes the check engine light but when i diagnose it it comes up as a knock sensor i dont even know what that is

Knock sensor is a cheap repair! It changes the timing when it detects a knock...........Up a hill is a perfect place for it to detect a knock...thats probably your check engine light issue............but.....still sounds like your tranny is slipping
