Nav DVD's change on a regular basis and actually should be updated by the owner of the car. The reason for it is construction. Roads change, Highways change, and you need to keep your nav system up to date if you want the correct directions to your destination. You can buy the updated versions from any BMW dealership and yes it will work in your system.

I took a look at some BMV forums, and many folks had questions about the navigation DVDs. If you bought your 745i from a BMW dealer, you can ask them about navigation software updates and new DVDs. If not, you can check the navtech.com site. The 2007.1 DVD apparently covers the continental U.S. plus Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii.
