I checked and replaced it with a new one programed to my vin. I have spark but when it hits the cap on ditributer its not leaving cap, I put a test on plug wires and the light barely lit up. I feel that something is causing weak spark. but im lost after that

Replace the whole dist shaft complete from cap to gear. The dist shafts r junk! I also went through a countless number and hrs and money b for finding the problem. E mail me with a phone number and i will call or tex u and get u pointed in the right direction.

It’s quite possible that the magnetic pickup coil inside at the bottom of the distributor is bad or has a broken wire strand. Usually easier to replace whole distributor rather than replace that one part seeing as how it’s usually machine pressed on there.
