Accelerator

Wondered if anyone's had this exp. with their car.  When I accelerate quickly, it feels as if though something is rolling back.  I took it to a non-BMW shop and he wanted to charge me $90 just to look at my car.  I wanted to troubleshoot it before I take it to BMW and have an limb lost just to pay out maint fee for something that may not be as critical as I think.  Help!

What do you mean by "Roll back"...if you mean sluggish acceration/hesitation, then I might suggest the cam position sensor.  My 96 328is was running very poorly, sluggish, no performance...and that was my problem.  The part is about $140.00, and there is a 1 hour charge (Another $140.00 labor - depending on where your at).  I have a great mechanic, he charged me cost for the part, and his shop rate of $75.00 hr. ($188.00 total).
