Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 Subaru Impreza had a exhaust
valve guide slip out long story short
cylinder head had to be replaced after it
was replaced I noticed the car didn't sound
the same the car has a deeper rumble than
it use to have I like the new sound it makes
but is it a heathy noise the right side
cylinder head is brand new and the left
side is original with the car my car has
94,000 miles should both be replaced or is
it ok just for one side?

I imagine that you had them check each side, but, its curious that you're hearing a different sound now? Could be they missed something and maybe both sides should have been attended to. By the way, when they did the valve guide, did they replace the valve cover gaskets?

At 94k miles I would just repair the one head as the other one should be in good shape.

Mark, please refrain from naive conjecture. "Attending" to both sides for this issue is like resetting both arms or ankles even though only one is broken! And what the hell does valve cover gaskets have to do with his noise issue?! Please stop kicking up the dust unnecessarily. The noise is most probably a leaky exhaust manifold gasket on the replaced side. Just have it resealed. In the future note that most valve guide issues in these heads can sometimes be rebuilt by a competent machine shop...but the heads are fairly cheap anyway. DO seal up that leak as otherwise you could damage either valve over time.
