engine swap

i have a 1994 beretta with a 2.2 engine .i want to get a bigger motor or one that has more horsepower..but i dont want to do any major swaps like 3800's...what engine can i replace it with that will fit in the bay without issues?

if i am not mistaken they also came with a 3.1, so i would assume that would be a relatively easy and durable swap

thier is the lq1 3.4 version of the 3.1 that put out 200ish hp, it was in a few cars in the mid 90s for the w body cars, might be a task to get to work, but would make a pretty killer beretta

Well your standard 2.2 is a manual, yeah? You're probably not going to want to go to a 3.1 automatic unless you want to do a whoooole lot of transmission work.
I suggest you try and look for a 2.8DOHC engine. They're pretty generic, and fit in most decent sized cars.
I've even heard of a guy putting a 350Corvette engine in his smoked out 'Rette. ;]
That's best left for true grease monkies.
Buutt, do what you will, eh? xD
