What is a main relay? What does it do?

It's also called a starter anti theft alarm relay or accessory relay. It apparently has multi circuit functions and I read it can cause lack of spark if it goes out. It's suppose to be part of the inline wiring harness located behind the dash somewhere.

What else have you checked to make you believe that the relay is to blame? Are you getting the flashing security light?

replaced plugs, wires, coil packs, timing sensor, coolant sensor switches, PVC valve, checked fuel pressure and ignition pack. There doesn't seem to be a security light on this 97 car.

I have a 2001 Saturn sl1 and the fan won't come on. I have changed the sensor and relay and fuse and still wont work. It has ac and the plug was damaged in a wreck and that's when the fan quit working. dose the ac need to be working for the fan to work? The check engine lioght is on also with the reading of po113, which is the cooling system. I just don't know what else to try but get the ac plug replaced but i can't find one. Any suggestions? 2 answers
