what causes the battery ti die in my keyless entry remote to die every 2 or 3 weeks

The two most likely reasons is that either one of the buttons is sticking on or is being held on when it's in your pocket, or there's a short somewhere inside the remote. Swap out the battery and keep it someplace where it won't be touched, and try it after it normally would be dead. If it's dead here, then it's something wrong with the remote- the short or a sticky button.
