why can't I get the service engine soon to go off ?

12 ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY..... Try resetting it by taking the neg. batter cable off for 15 min to 30 min.

it has been my experience that if there is a weird electrical issue with a car it is often a ground problem. check not only your battery cables, both ends clean and tight, but any ground you can find. also, check the connection to the computer itself. sometimes corrosion in there can cause problems. 2 of my 5 vehicles are obd1, pain in the A** to diagnose.
