Mercedes c230 will not start. Battery good, all lights normal, car cranks but will not start? Had driven it 80 miles the evening before and had fueled it with premium grade before shutting down?

ok here is some thing to do you say it cranks over but no start and that you fueled it up before it died. turn on theopen the hood find the fuel rail I have added a picture. there is a small black cap on the rail that looks like a tire cap under that cap is a sharder valve jut like a tire. turn on the key press the valve down and see if gas comes out. there might be a lot or there might not be any. if there is alot then fuel is not you problem but if there is none then you might have a bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay, or fuse for the pump. its just an easy way to check it out. also when you turn on the key listen for the pump will tell you if it working.let me know if any of this helps

Bad crank position sensor, they are known to give out with out warning on the Mercedes. Sometimes they will allow the car to start sometimes they wont.

Wife had sent vehicle to dealer before i got back in town. they provided estimate today to replace fuel pump, both sensors, and crank sensor although now vehicle is starting. The VIN is correct on estimate but they have the year wrong. it is a 2007 not 2001. They are saying also needs rear brakes, manifold tumbler total for all would be over $6000. i am inclined to sell it or trade it.

Wrong. Take it some where else and change the crank sensor or do it yourself. Heres a link on how to change it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cYAVn639Pg

You should be able to order the part online or thru an auto parts store.

even the fuel pump you can get online and there are videos on how to do that too. do not take to the dealer and pay that much. look online and see if there are service bulletins for this problem might be able to get it fixed for free.

Prideauto you cannot hear the c230 fuel pump while inside the car its a mercedes. The crank sensor is the easiest to change and youy dont have to drop the fuel tank. I would start there since it even says on the paper work the crank angle sensor needs to be replaced due to high rate of failure. If you do a quick search thru the questions most c class issues are crank sensor, cam sensor, and key issues. Heres a link on how to change the crank angle sensor: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w203-c-class/1563637-w203-crankshaft-position-sensor-cps-diy.html

Dealer knows the real issue and sees the possiblitly to just throw lots of extra parts at the car ( bend over ) and charge you. Also for piece of mind research fuel pump failure for the 07 c class. Find a good indy mechanic and see what he says.

What is your symptom? Is it the same as Sterling? if you spray starting fluid and it starts that's a good indication that the fuel pump is bad. You don't have to drop the tank, it's under the rear seat on the right (passenger) side.

I had same problem on Mercedes B class 170. Problem was in fuel pump relay. Fuel pump simply didn't work because of bad relay. Find relay and switch it with rear heating window relay because they are the same and try. That was my fix and it didn't cost nothing. No problem after that fix.

My 06 c230 is providing fuel while cranking motor over but not priming under accessories mode. (Right before cranking it over) changed out fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse just to see if that would work. Poured gas in the intake where maf sensor is still no start. Maybe the crankshaft position sensor? Any other ideas?
