Trip Computer/Clock, Why does it reset to zero upon ignition shut off?

When driving on long trips, the trip time clock resets to zero. When you have to make a pitstop for food etc. Unlike the milage trip odemeter which must be done manually,(preferable), to reset. Anyway to get around it? Obviously if power is maintained to that clock, we would not have that problem. Any suggestions? Thanks, Walter.

Take this to the dealership and ask them to look at it.  The reason I tell you this is that there may be a computer problem which they can flash/reprogram for you.

Example:  On the 2008 Dodge Avengers, we were getting reports that the clock in the stereo would randomly move forward 1-5 minutes every few hours.  No matter how far back you set it, it kept creeping forward.  Chrysler issued a TSB which required us to flash the computer to fix the issue.  It sounds like a similar problem is going on with yours.

Thanks to "littlehorn". Found out their is indeed a feature that is setup in the trip computer. The dealership was unaware, but a tech agent from Acura showed me the solution in the manual!
