engine replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

need to replace the engine (threw a rod).  How much labor/time is realistic for the
dealer to charge?  engine needs to meet california emissions standards.

If the dealer is just changing the engine( instead of rebuilding it) with a new one, then he has a parts and labor book to go by. But to awnser your question, Two hours out and four hours in. Add fluids and lubricants, and disposal fees. Your looking at 8-10 hours of labor.(that he will do in 6) At about $100 dollars per hour shop rate.
