why is car leaking oil?

Car is starting to leak oil , small spots on garage floor.

have a grease monkey shimmy on underneath and just snug the pan bolts, if this is the source. Got to know more than 'oil small spots on garage floor' could be from anywhere, but we'll start at the oil pan/transmission pan.

what color is it? is it oily or coolantie? is your power steering making sounds now? does your air conditioning work okay?

shrinkage, jerry, shrinkage....no gaskets will shrink...leakin it out.

Common sources of oil leaks are the valve cover gaskets and the crankshaft seals.
