My question is I replaced a starter on my vehicle and now it wont start. Whats the problem?

Does the starter engage and turn the engine over or does it do nothing when the ignition is turned?

Its does nothing. A clicking sound

Why did you need to replace the starter in the first place? Was it bad? is the new starter doing the same thing as the old one?

I replaced the starter because it wouldn't start. Then someone told me to tap on the starter and when i did it the car started right up. When i replaced the starter i also tapped it but it still wouldn't engage.

Is the battery good? I mean does it have the correct amount of cranking power to start the car. I would try jumping the car first before moving forward. Did you make sure that the new starter in making a good electrically contact, sometimes there could be paint or something else preventing the battery from making a good connection.

The clicking noise is usually the sound of the starter solenoid trying to engage. Usually means not enough battery power. I think the tapping on the starter was just one of those freak coincidences

Is the cable going to the solenoid on the stater tight?

I gave it a jump and it still didn't engage. Im going to check the old starter to see if its bad. Could it be the alternator? Or could it be some type of anti theft system that triggerd when i unhooked the terminal to the battery?

any update on a final fix?
