Volvo 940 Forum : “how do i successfully get the car in and out of low gear?”

Dear ohbbrad-  The good news is that it is probably not your transmission itself.  Ricky MacDonald, who has been fixing Volvos for Boston Volvo since Nixon was president, says those transmissions were as sturdy as a tank.  He thinks you have a problem in the shifter itself.  Have a good mechanic look at it and you might end up getting it unstuck or repaired for a low cost.   Good luck from Bovan.
