Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 1998 chevrolet tahoe with a few problems, ill just tell yall what all its doing, and if yall could, just get back to me on some rough ideas of what yall think, im going to compare and see what yall say to what other guys i know say. the truck will only start after a full minute or 2 of turning the key over and rarely runs rough but turns smooth, sometimes it cranks right up and even after driving it sometimes it will give me a problem cranking, it will just turn over and embarass me in front of people. the car was warmed up and all one day and it was a small rain going on, i was at lowes, ran in and got a pit, and came out to move my truck to the freight area, and it literally took my 5 minutes + to get it to finally start, all the while just turning over the whole time. also, in the mornings, and rarely at any other times, i have to ease on the gas, i cannot step on it or it will bog down and die, or just bog really low and run rough and finally catch up and speed up. i find this really aggravating when i get cut off and wanna get around people. also, when i step on it or speed up i can hear a quick tapping noise under the truck and it only happens when i accelerate, and i think ive heard it when ive hit my brakes before, and with that, when i shift to reverse or drive, the truck jumps and i hear a loud clinking sound when it shifts.

i'm wondering if the truck is running rich.. u say it bogs down on acceleration. it could have a stuck open injector. smell raw fuel in the tail pipe?

My battery is actually dead at the moment but I'm going to put a jump pack on it tonight, and I'll let you know then!

I would start at the fuel pressure ? See what kind of pressure it has at an idle ? Does it drop at throttle ? This points in direction of a fuel pump .. seems like pump is either losing pressure or is straining intermittently.. the clunking sound sounds like a driveshaft or bad u joint maybe that was more of a vague description but maybe both these would be a place to start ..
