02 vw jetta 2.0 4 cyl auto...stalled out at red light. Will not start back up. My alternator is new,timing belt is fine. checked power to fuel pump, fuses checked and are not burnt out. I'm at a loss.

Check fire to plug,then check for fuel at fuel rail,it will be one or the other,if no fuel fuel pump,if no fire may be coil or coils,you will have to narrow it down to fire or fuel,but it my opinion it,s fuel pump.

Mark thanks, We took the cap off the fuel pump and detached one of the lines and turned thd e key..it spit gas..would it do that if the pump was broken? My bf also thinks it could be coil

I bought a new radio for my 2008 VW Jetta it worked but it had very bad reception plus I wanted a in dash GPS,I installed the new radio and the screen lit up and I was in the process of setting it up and checking out the functions,I took the key out of the on position and went to turn it back on and I had nothing and even reinstalled the factory radio and still had nothing I checked for voltage at the factory plug and no voltage.I checked all of the fuses under the hood and at the left side of the dash and all of the fuses were fine,Im I missing a fuse,inline etc.I ran a temporary ground wire and still nothing,no voltage at the plug any help will be appreciated I don't know what else to check.Thank You 1 Answer

I have no voltage at the plug that goes to the back of the radio,as bad that the factory radio was it still turned on but just had very bad reception.

I need help to figure out what's up with my 2005 Jetta GL that won't start. Engine turns over and cam position sensor that showed on code readout has been replaced but car will not fire. Fuel pump sounds like it is working when key is turned part way on. 5 Answers

i have a 2004 vw jetta 1.8t and i tried to start it one day and it only cranked. i know i need a new battery, but when it was charged i could hear the pump hum and i had changed the oil. i changed the crankshaft position sensor and all the spark plugs and fuel filter and still no start. i changed the pump relay and still nothing im at my wits end and i need my second car to start runnin. its not getting any fuel because i tried starting fluid in the spark plug area and it fired right up its not leaking from any hoses. the only thing i changed in it was a battery for the keyless entry and the oil. i have the check engine light on and when i try to start it the battry sounds like its losing power and the oil light will start flashing. what is the malfunction. i know it needs air fuel and spark, and fuel is my problem. 7 Answers

tried everything i could think of. the car also has the epc light on.
