My truck won't go past second gear what could b the problem? What can I do to fix it

my trans line to the radiator popped loose
transmission fluid ran out I filled it up
tighten the hose drove againit was cool the
hose popped againwhile I was on the
freewaytighten the hose back upadded
more transmission fluidthen it wouldn't go
past 25 miles per hour before slipping
majorly with no more leaks

Did you fill the transmission with the engine off, then pull the stick? If you did, your tranny is not full. You have to pull the stick with the engine running. Pull the stick with engine running, wipe stick, put back in and get reading. Then add more oil as needed. Most people check the tranny fluid like they check their oil. It will appear full when cold and the engine is off.
