What brand name shocks do you recommend for my '99 stock Suburban?

Asked by LeeRo Jan 25, 2007 at 01:08 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban C1500 LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got new tires and they recommended that I change my shocks since they are the originals.  What would you recommend I use?

Hi LeeRo, Your best bet would be to go to your local Chevrolet dealer and ask the parts counter what the recommended shocks are. In general it wouldn't make too much of difference what shocks you used to replace the factory ones. One company that has a good reputation for making quality parts is Bilstein. You can find their shocks at the following site: http://pro.chevypartspro.com/buy.php?make_text=chevy&model_text=suburban&ml=c15s--001&year=1999&part_name=shock_absorber&brand_name=bilstein&r=1&make_code=CV Good luck!

Thank you...my main concern is I never want to replace them again. 97 suburb only has 70,000 MI . Only good thing about something going out is to replace it with something that will never go out again. I'm alone and it is devastating for car to go out especially at night. Dealers always want to charge $700 to $800 for anything, and try to tell me they can't get OEM or even professional line. Genuine bottom of the line DELCO ADVANTAGE is always deemed good enough for me. "OEM, YOU DON'T NEED THAT"
