Overheated and Died, Cooled Off and Started

Asked by rwjjnj Jan 08, 2015 at 11:34 AM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 ST LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Check gauge light came and started to overheat so I pulled over.  The radiator fluid
spilled, so I added water and drove a few more miles.  It overheated again so I pulled
over to check the oil.  The oil was bone dry so I checked for leaks.  No leaking.   After it
cooled down again, it started for a few more miles.  It's parked at a restaurant.  Can
someone help me please?  Thank you for your time.

PUT OIL IN IT before you start it again. You may get away with it now, but if you keep driving it with low oil you are going to blow the engine

Don't drive it- have it towed to your mechanic- why do people resist the inevitable "tow job"? It happens to the best of cars-

It has oil in it and have not drove it again. I have AAA so I can have it towed. I was just asking to see if there were other factors I could eliminate.
