why will the 3003 dodge act like in 4WD and the switch is off

3003...eh? seen this problem before, the solenoid what activates the 4wd on the transfer case is inoperative, either 'cause it's jammed open, or shut, or there isn't proper voltage to operate this device, which should appear on your dash panel, if there is an indicator light showing the 2 or 4 wheel selections-
