my trcuk idels high right after i start it

When i start my truck after is sits all night the idel goes to
about 1000 then jumps to 1500 or so then comes back
down and keeps doinf that until it warms up and stays
about 600.  When im driving on the highway its in od at
about 900 rpm and jumps up a few hundred rpm and gose
back do wn to 900 could that be my trans goong bad and
its got a pretty loud humming but only in od.  Its a the 5.2
4x4 dodge 1500

First, when the tachometer flucatutes like that do you fell a change in power/speed om the highway? Also 900 rpm at highway speeds leads me to the tach malfunctioning. You can't maintain 55 or 60 at 900 rpm. I lean to a bad tachometer before a bad transmission

Maybe not 900 probaly 1200 but its jummping up by its self even i cruise control

No change just here it rev up a little bit and gose back to where it was

Ive been told its that and the bands along with a dirty filter ill look onto the torque converter
