Truck spits and sputters and jerks around while driving but it is only for a brief 5-10 secs, and then it has a hard time starting up and then it will crank and run perfectly fine after that. Im thinking that it is my fuel pump, filter and/or EGR Valve.

electronic engine controls- have a shop look at it- they can diagnose it, easily

Fuel pump and EGR are expensive guesses besides, EGR just cuts down your power or leaks vacuum - no spit and sputter. Fuel pump either works or it doesn't, Fuel filter would be a problem all of the time. More likely is the ignition system - a coil, cap and rotor, or the sensors that the PCM uses to trigger the ignition system. You're better off taking it to a reputable shop and having it diagnosed - unless you're wealthy enough to throw money at it.

Maybe it's the spark plugs.

I changed the spark plugs. Maybe now change the coil packs????

You can check the coil packs individually with a strobing light thing it will tell you wich one is not working...if that is the problem

Had a similar problem along with no starts. Coil wire was bad.

My 02 Dakota spurted and spit when I first started it, then I would turn t off and start it again and it ran fine, until I turned it off for a while. When I started again, same thing again. I changed crankshaft sensor wasn't it, then changed engine computer ECU, wasn't it, read online blog about guy changing the upstream drivers side oxygen sensor, that was my problem! But the O2 wire ran to top of transmission, I cut the wires and spliced in the new O2 sensor, runs fine now, even better gas milage, lol
