Car won't start

After replacing parts inside the steering wheel after coming loose I've tried to
start it and suddenly smoke came out when trying to start it, could it be the
ignition cylinder?

you are going to have to pull it back apart there is a positive wire that is pinched and grounded out in the steering wheel.
