Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The gaskets on the crossover pipe on the top front of my 2001 f-150 supercrew need to be replaced. The one on the left side above the thermostat is leaking. Water leaks out when you fill the overflow tank to the top. Any suggestions on how to go about changing them would be appreciated.

Also, in winter, i have to put the fan on "high" to get enough heat in the truck. Then it gets too warm and you have to turn it down. Could the heater core be the problem?

Have you cleaned and changed the anti-freeze lately. Most individuals never think of draining the system and replacing it. When the engine and coolant is hot try this. Turn the temp control all the way to hot and place the fam on a medium temp. Feel the air with the palm of your hand as your palm cah sense temperature changes better than any other part of your body. Now slowly and in increments, turn the temp control toward cold/cool. See if you feel a temp change. If not you probably have a problem with the door mixing outside air (cool) with the air blown over the heater core.

You need to replace the intake manifold. You cannot replace the gasket in the crossover tube without removing the entire intake manifold. The manifold probably has a Crack in the plastic. I would buy an after market intake manifold it is a lot cheaper. I hope it helps.
