i've heard of the engine lasting 300k with good care. a Xmission can last up to 160k miles with proper fluid and filter changes(in my experience).
Are you talking gas mileage or engine life? As far as gas mileage it all depends on a perfectly maintained engine and what platform, base, LS or SS and there is not a lot of difference there, low end is 16-17 miles per gal. city and 26 - 27 Highway. Mileage life of an engine depends on a lot of factors. Mainly how well maintained it has been and what engine, they had the 3.4L in the base and 3.8 in the SS.
