Question type: Car Customization

I own a 2005 Colorado Z85 Ext Cab, I5, 4x4 with a Manual Trans.  I have been trying to find a lift kit that fits.  Now I have contacted lift kit dealers and companies and all I have been told is "the lift won't work on a manual trans."  Can some one explain to me why?
