Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just wanted to go really fast, I have a
2003 Toyota Corolla and took it up to 4K
rpms a few times. Is this bad for the car?

You should be able to take it up to 6 grand without any issues. What is the redline on the tachometer?

The redline starts at 6500, does mileage matter? It has 204,000 miles.

I would take it easy on a 200k motor. Limit it to around 5,000 to 5,500 rpm if the engine sounds good.

The car has a built it Rev limiter. You can max out the rpms in every gear and it won't hurt anything. BUT.. if you do it all the time it will definitely decrease the life of the motor. With 200k + mileage I wouldn't do it a lot. 4k rpms is fine a couple times a week if it is a Manuel stick shift I would shift around 2500 and 3000 rpm for regular driving. That will increase fuel mileage and eine life. If it is an automatic just drive normal and it will shift in a good range. 4k if fine though a couple times a week.

check fuel pressure or need to replace fuel pump., maf sensor, oxygen sensor, tps, and air filter.
