wheres the signal wire in a 96 corolla base 4afe

trying to hook up a tach and all I need is the signal wire (keep in mind this is my first time
doing electric work so keep it kinda simple please)

The Neg- side of coil, which is in distributor. There hopefully is a wire coming out -- capped -- for use in the trims with tach in cluster from factory. It is either green or black

1996 corolla 1.6 l - You need the negative of the ignition coil. Where is it? Look at your distributor cap there's four thick wires running straight to the engine to power the spark plugs, its none of those. There's 4 other much thinner wires bundled together. It's the black one. If you're standing in front of the hood facing the car its the upper wire closer to you. You have to drill through the fire wall if you want to connect that to a remote starter or tachometer ---- I got that from

Sorry for the conflicting information. The forums contradict each other. But I do know that it IS the Neg coil for signal. Other than that, above is all I could find.

Good day.in my 4afe 1996.i saw 2 set of wire in my distributor.one is 4 wire and the other one is 2 wires brown and black. Coz i dont know where to hook up my tacho wire. Is it in green wire or black wire......in my distrbutor thers a wire on top that have a male female socket.and one is in the bottom of my distrbtor and that is 2 wire black n brown. Any one can help.thanks.....
