I get no ESC OFF or center differential locked indication when pushing 4WD button in the Low range?
Just purchased a used 2001 4Runner from my local Toyota dealer. Upon purchasing the truck, I went through the 4WD
operation to make sure it was working properly. At that time, when I put the vehicle in Low and pushed the 4WD button on
the side of the selector lever, the ESC OFF and center differential lights would come on to indicate that the system was
working as it should per the owner's manual instructions. Now, after about 2k miles, the system is no longer working as it
was. It does go into 4WD as indicated by all 4 green lights lighting up to indicate that 4WD is engaged. And, I can hear the
actuator pulling it into and out of 4WD. However, the mode that is supposed to indicate that the center differential has
locked and thus disengaged the ESC doesn't seem to be working any longer (I"m not getting the center diff light or the ESC
OFF light on the instrument panel anymore). The dealer has no idea what I am talking about even though the manual clearly
spells out what is supposed to happen once the 4WD button is selected. Any suggestions on what to troubleshoot?
