is this engine good or not,and is this engine japanies?

Hi discoveryboy,
As to the origin, I can't find anything that says that this diesel engine is Japanese. However, I did find an article that refers to this engine as coming from Germany. I have yet to find any
official reviews of the engine - as to its efficiency, durability, etc.

Heya
Ive got a '99 Grand Vitara, I have the 2.0 turbo diesel, not sure if the engines Japanese or not but in my experience its been very good. Its economical, its taken everything Ive thrown at it, Im an archaeologist so its gone off road, its towed heavy stuff up some big assed hills etc etc. Its been the best descision I ever made getting it.
