how many miles before re build eng
how many miles before rebuilding a eng.
A lot depends on whether or not it has it's scheduled oil and filter changes, and if the timing chain tensioner/timing chain was ever replaced~...there are a few environmental variables like contaminated gasoline...living in a dusty environment...whether or not it had seen any PIzza Delivery service...etc...environmental variables~
With proper maintenance, as The Judge said, you can expect 200,000+ miles. Regular oil changes are extremely important. Each 3 months or 3,000 miles if the vehicle is driven regularly. Always use a good quality oil filter and the proper, manufacturer recommended, type and weight of oil. Change your PCV valve and, if equipped, crankcase ventilation filter, each 12 months or 12,000 miles too. Always use a name brand, proper octane, fuel. This is important for keeping fuel system components operating well. This will also keep combustion chambers and spark plugs clean and free of deposits. Lastly, don't beat the tar out of it either. Drive normally not like you're at the Indy 500!! A good run at expressway speeds from time to time is good for an engine. Just don't over do it. HTH. - Jim
what is the beauty in "doin' donuts"...it is a scourge for your car AND your fellow motorists...so, you've got a tremendous power/weight ratio...I've got one too with my little 1.6 liter MINI....depends on what you are happy with...makin' a big show of things....I do believe that we've reached a level of maturity that we have no need for this burning-of- the-tires in a cul-de-sac...late at night...no way...not gonna do it~
