Which fuse? (tail lights)

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 GMC Sierra 1500.  The tail lights aren't working.  The brake lights and turn signals all work,
I changed out the bulbs already and I think it is a fuse.  The problem I am running into is figuring out
which fuse those lights are on.  Any help?

Thanks! been working on it this morning, It isn't the fuse... I am about to basically rewire the whole deal, also tried a new switch as well.

do you mean the headlight switch? cause your parking lights do run through it.might have a short in it. but if you changed the brake light switch it won't have anything to do with it. good luck paul

Yeah, literally changed the headlight switch. Actually I have changed everything except the wiring harnesses. I just need to trace the route with a multimeter and find the problem.

I had a problem with one of my tail lights out on my 98 seirra. what i was told was where the bulbs plug into kind of a circiut board where all three bulbs are connected. you will need to replace this. they are like 20 dollars at autozone. took me 15 min.. problem solved

check ground connection its towards the rear of the truck, might be connected to tow connectors. bad ground. if not there are new tail light assembly

Solution: The driver's side rear tail light wires are exposed underneath and need to be wrapped with electrical tape. Solution: The tow light wires at times get cut or stretched and break from towing or from the tail gate, need to be wrapped with electric tape or removed if you don't want to use it anymore.

The dash lights, tail lights and front running lights on my 94 gmc were out. I wiggled the headlight switch and they came on. Never did find the fuse that fed the tail lights, etc. There is a hole in the fuse panel for DRL (daytime running lights) but there are no connectors to plug a fuse into. Where is the fuse for the tail lights?

The tail lights on my 94 GMC also quit working at the same time the instrument panel lights quit working. I replaced the wheel switch that dims the instrument panel and that also fixed the tail light problem.

Same problem on 2012 Sierra. No right side running lights. Turn sig works, brake lights up, new bulbs and good fuses. Found that all the wires run to a connector block behind the bumper, behind the spare. The connector simple came loose. Problem solved. Couldn't have done it without this sight! Thanks!!
