Asked by donpg101 May 28, 2013 at 06:32 PM about the 1993 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SLE Standard Cab Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1993 5.7 2wd gmc sierra, I changed the fuel lines, now it will start and idle fine but in drive it will die. Pushing the pedal to the floor will not keep it running. It will not restart for hours.

It could be a number of things, so here are a few suggestions you might want to check: 1. Has the throttle plate ever been cleaned? It can get a build up on it and give an incorrect idle. 2. Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? 3. Have you given it a complete tune up? 4. Did you change or thoroughly clean the idle control solenoid? 5. Have you checked the fuel pump in the fuel tank?
