Gmc envoy 2003 a4wd how to put into gear?

gmc envoy and shes
never used the a4wd i live
a distance away and was
wondering how she turns
this on. Does she have to
put this in neutral to put in
gear or can she just turn
the knob in park and it will
go into gear

She can do it parked while running or on the move up to about 55 MPH. In and out of 2wd, 4x4 auto (if equipped) and 4x4 high.
