while driving , goto shift gears and have nothing,had to let it set over nite and this morning it worked just fine

I pulled the center console to see if anything was loose, everything is tight,the clutch fluild is full. this isn't the first time it has done this for my daughter and when i get to look at it every thing works fine. don't know what to do

Look at cable end transmission side and see if the rubber inside metal loop attached to selector is broken or missing. Warm car to operating range check fluid level levels plainly maked on stick.fluid should be clean bright pinkish, and not have a burned odor, if there is a check engine light you need to determine what the problem is. ATF Is +4 type

Transmission is very slow to up shift...like loss of vacuum? any ideas?
