I have an automatic pt cruiser while driving it wont go past 40 or 4000 rpms it wont shut off just wont let me go past it whatr can cause that?

the check engine light stays on of course it will jolt a couple times to prevent me from going [ast 4o mph / 4ooo rpms otherwise it runs and drives fine.

Get the codes read. That will tell you where the problem is.

dear sir your cam sensor will do this when it goes bad the car will run 2000plus rpm only i have fixed this problem p.s, change both cam and crank its just good to do but do the key switch to get codes out of computer any manaual will tell you how larry123

That is exactly what happened to ne..i have a 2001 pt cruiser...all started over a blown cigarette plug fuse blew...i replaced the fuse. Then ignigation fuse blew replaced every fuse under hood and in the fuse box inside car...everything worked except speedometer didn't work which cause car not shift throwing speed sensor out..cheap fix really .....i have nothing but problems out my pt cruiser...it is deffently a vehicle you have to invest quite a bit...
