A local mechanic worked on our "07 Prius and now the keys only work in the ignition slot and by pressing the unlock button on the key fob. One of the keys was miles away and displays the same behavior

Are there any similar experiences, and what might be the solution?I expect a fight when it comes to reembursement to another mechanic.

Look on the panel under the steering wheel for the smartkey button and press it. To keep from running the battery down most shops turn smartkey off.
