I have a 2002 Ford Focus 2.0 spi that is cutting out on me

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 02 focus and it runs goodbut at times it just cuts out power still but just dies.
I had to have it towed but then the next day it fired right up like nothing is wrong.
I am worried about driving it anywhere.Any Idea what that might be?

Mine has been doing the same thing for a couple of years now and no one can track down why its doing it either

Myne did the same I took of the iac cleaned it with casoline then I changed my fuel pump relay and then I changed the small pvc hose at the back of the intake manifold. You can by pass the dpfe sensor to see if it makes a diffrence as well

it's the alternator. Mine was doing the exact same thing I would be driving and all the gauges would die and the car would either die or almost die. Sometimes I could keep it going other times it would completely die and i would have to get a jump. Turns out the alternator was going bad and finally completely gave out on me. I'm in the process of replacing it as we speak which is how I found this post. Are they SPI motor's by chance and not the Zetek?
