My 2002 ford exp. Xlt, is making a loud, thug, every few feet. The whole truck shakes. At the rear end. They want $800 to 1200 to fix te rear differential at the dealer. Is that what it costs?

Get a second opinion first before you spend any money its hard to find a honest mechanic.
Dealers are always higher in price, but they do a better job and stand by the repair. If your short on cash take it to a local repair shop.
New car dealerships, service departments are parts changers. Go to a REPUTABLE local repair/mechanic. Ask around, talk to friends, neighbors and coworkers about whos got a good honest garage.

Your noise could be as simple as a bad u-joints(s). Wherever you take it make sure they tell you how much and what's wrong before they do the work, so there are no surprise's.
