My ignition system has an issue

Asked by Matthew Apr 23, 2016 at 03:51 PM about the 1993 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After running errands the day before, I went to start my 93
crown Victoria and I had dashboard lights until I turned the
key from on to start.  The battery is only 2 months old and
still good @ 12 amps,  the starter didn't engage, all the dash
lights went dark and no door chime. I attempted to
jumpstart it the same thing happened. After a week of it
sitting & my research, my neighbor checked the fuse boxes
and they both are getting power the cigarette lighter gets
power and the windshield washer motor will click as it is
just week with power. The only things I can come up with
are the ignition module the actual ignition switch in the
steering column or as my dad suggested a fusible link is
there any advice or help someone can give me I am a
college student and I missing class. God bless you for
whatever help you can give.

1 Answer

The root cause of my ignition issue was with the battery terminals. The old ones were corroded and beat up which somehow ground the circuit. I also replaced the positive cable itself just in case. Total repair cost: around 20$
