Yukon XL SLT vs Suburban Z71

Asked by jimirwin Dec 03, 2013 at 12:21 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS 4WD

Question type: General

Please advise differences. I know I want a Suburban (2006 or 05) with Z71 pkg 4WD. A
GMC sales guy says the Yukon SLT is the same thing. I've seen both now, and know
there are some visible differences. Roof rack and 4WD buttons on the dash at least.
Seeking facts.

I'm in Cedar Park, Texas, and am actively looking and ready to buy for cash.

You have to make your own decision but they're the same trucks with very subtle package differences

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but what you've offered is no help at all. I need specifics about what makes up the Z71 pkg and whether these things are present in the SLT and what differences there are between the two. Like I said, I seek facts, not vague generalities.

Ok then go to Chevy.com or look under GeneralMotors.com

Maybe late but: The Z-71 off-road package consists of heavy-duty components added to four-wheel drive models for enhanced off-road capability. These trucks came with a limited slip rear differential, that had numerically higher gear ratios. They were equipped with larger off-road tires, and heavy-duty off-road shock absorbers. The suspensions on these trucks were also lifted higher than standard four-wheel drive Silverados.
