Why my check engine goes on & how to fix it?

Asked by Jelias Sep 16, 2015 at 02:43 AM about the 2003 Honda CR-V EX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I park the car for approximately 8 hrs & then start the engine the
check engine light goes on, however after the engine is heated for 1~2 min
I turn off the car & start it once more then the check engine light will be off

The sparks are newly changed, so are the engine oil
the mechanic plugged computer to the car to check the reason & he says it
is from the timing chain (engine chain) but I'm not convinced after I read
online

You will need to read the code(s) to narrow the problem with the car. You can go to partz store such as auto zone they will scan it for free. Post the codes and we will try and help...A bad timing chain will not throw a code...

...did you recently replace something? I would agree go to Auto Zone n have it checked... At a gas station the lady filling my gas did not replace my gas cap...I bought one from Auto Zone, my engine light came on, I took it back n had it read...it was the oxygen censer...you might need a genuine Honda part, after market gas caps don't work on my CRV.
