1984 Porsche 944 wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Lost power and could hear a knocking at too of engine.
Drained fuel, changed fuel filter, sounds like it wants to start
but wont turn over. new gas, cleaned injectors, new plugs,
new battery...pulled plugs and there is gas on them, pump
starts....help!

Could be camshafts or tensioners if it is coming from the top. Sometimes the cam lobes break off and the tensioners can break up also.
