Car won't start/ stay running?!!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Initially the car will start if given gas
and you must continue to give it gas
to keep it idling. After a few minutes
I'll release the gas pedal and the car
will die. Immediately trying to start
the car again, it will crank but not
turn over. Then after ten or so
minutes I will try again and it will start
and idol fine without needing to give
gas. What is going on? Please help

1991 mercury grand marquis. Side note, this problem started when a 7 day cold front came in
