2007-2008 BMW 3&5 Series maintenance cost?

I am planing to buy my first car and I am wondering if going for a used BMW 3series or 5
series 2007-2008 with about 100k of miles is a good option? any advice? I am a college
student, how much will I expect to spend in maintenance? if anyone can give me a rough
annual maintenance cost that would be nice.

Agreeing these cars can be maintenance intensive and mechanical breakdowns can be really expensive.
