Well after studying where the noise was coming from it sounds like it's under the valve cover

Bad serpentine belt or bad bearing in Altrrnator ! Take a very long long screwdriver place it on Alternator (if you have long hair be careful tie it up dont wear anything that will dangle) open hood start car place ear on handle of screwdriver it will act as a stethascope u will hear bear bouncing around ! Dont try this trick on water pump ?!

Is there a possibility that this could be somewhere between the rockers and the crank?

Check all the components that run off the fan belt (serpentine) first! If its under a valve cover youre not looking good as you may have metal on metal contact! Pulleys can echo noise so make sure to eliminate them first
