I don't have an answer but I find your question quite interesting? After all, SUV's are top heavy, often during emergency manuvers they result in a roll over. Their suspension isn't geared for high performance driving, they're prone to excessive stopping distances; especially when oversized wheels and tires are installed. The stopping distance is increased by as much as 25% when brake upgrades are not done. Having an interest in which one is FASTEST seems to be an accident waiting to happen? I just find that anyone interested in that kind of speed in such a vehicle has either not thought it through or have a death wish? With that being said, I'd check with Ford Motorsports or ROUSCH Racing to see what's available for the Ford SUV products. It's unlikely you're gonna find what you're looking for in the showroom.

I looked it up on wikipedia for you... they keep a nice list of automotive superlatives for these kind of questions... under 'Highest top speed: Pickup truck/Utility' they have the Holden Special Vehicles, Maloo R8 at 168.66 mph. Odd since the Cayenne Turbo S is limited at 171... prolley no one willing to test the top speed on an SUV that fast

Agreed!...anyone wanting to see "how fast" an SUV will go most certainly needs a "check up, from the neck up!"

Well with the majority of the individuals holding the most of the purchasing power needing more then what a car can provide, numerous manufacturers have responded to the need and want of performance SUV's. I understand the comments as to why, but that answer is simple for any car guy. BECAUSE.....Numerous performance SUV's have hit the market such as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Chevrolet Trailblazer SS, and the Range Rover Sport to name a few. All are fast, but the question, what is the fastest SUV??? What is your definition of fast??? 0-60, Top Speed, Road course, etc. Every last one will produce a different answer. My recommendation go drive it, if you like it, then you found your answer.......

My personal opinion is that the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is the fastest. I haven't tested or seen tests of all the performance SUVs out there, but from what i've seen with the Porsche is that its not just quick in a straight line (550+ HP) but it handles very well thanks to the brilliant suspension and chassis engineers at Porsche. But i find that looks mean almost as much as going fast, in which case i'd have to have a Range Rover Sport.
