do you think the G8 is the V8 Powered Bonneville just renamed?

That was what I thought at first, but when G8 was launched eventually Pontiac stopped making the Grand Prix, so that makes two.

The G8 is another one of the Pontiac's built by the Australian company Holden. GM owns Holden and have been relying on them for several years now. The GTO and G8 are both built by Holden and are basically just re-badged with Pontiac for sale in America. But don't get the idea that GM is relying on some two-bit company that is making worthless vehicles, Holden is very well renown for their quality over price.

The G8 GXP is a well built, quality vehicle that turns heads on the road and performs up to specs. I have had one, and it has had no problems in 3 years. Valets park the car up front with Ferraris and Bentleys .

Not even close. Australian built rear wheel drive, same platform as 2010- 2013 Camaro. A far cry from a fwd Bonneville.
